Wing It On! is committed to giving back to the first responders and healthcare professionals working on the front lines as the Covid-19 pandemic comes to a peak. From April 9 – April 16th, Wing It On! locations in Waterbury and New Britain will be donating catered lunches to local Hospital and Fire Departments in Waterbury and New Britain.
Diann Ensero, the owner of Wing It On! Waterbury, is the coordinator of this effort. She states “we just want to thank the essential workers who risk their lives every day for the good of the public. A lot of our fans are first responders, we know they’re dealing with the anxiety of staying healthy even as the number of COVID-19 cases increase. They don’t have time to figure out what’s for lunch. We’d like to bring our wings to them to keep them full and focused.”
The recent effort to give back comes at a time when many restaurants are struggling to keep employees on their payroll. Ensero says “Now is the time for us to dig deep and give back. Yes, our business has been impacted, but we’re able to weather the storm. The folks on the front lines are the ones who are taking the real risks as they care for and protect others. We’re here to help take care of them.”
Wing It On!’s response to the Covid-19 outbreak has been swift, communicating to fans early and regularly through social media, email and push notifications. CEO and founder Matt Ensero says, “We knew early on we needed to take every precaution necessary to ensure our employees and fans felt safe. We immediately increased sanitation efforts and social distancing standards at all locations even before Connecticut and New Jersey mandated restaurants switch to take out only. We even brought in face masks and sneeze guards at counters to promote safety for everyone in the dining room.”
Wing It On! will continue to promote contact-less payment options through online ordering and the Wing It On! mobile app. Curbside pick up has also been instituted to give fans an added layer of security.
